Smart Arrays

Until now, Arrays have been restricted to sophisticated NDT applications that need variable focusing and steered beam capabilities. However they can also offer significant inspection speed and cost improvements without any loss in sensitivity to small flaws that "paintbrush" probes exhibit. DSL has developed a range of SMART ARRAY modules specifically to work with existing ultrasonic instruments.
Family of Smart arrays

The MLA is a wideband array with integrated pulser-receivers and multiplexers which can have up to 256 beams in the normal 128mm wide inspection length.

The IMX is a miniaturised multiplexer module for use with smaller arrays (typically 16 beams).

Both types can be used with conventional Flaw Detectors or for real-time imaging with DSL's Flaw Inspecta.
