Ultrasound Test Objects - the "Cardiff Test System"
The Cardiff Test System was developed at the Bioengineering Unit of the University Hospital of Wales by K.McCarty and W.Stewart with funding from the Welsh Office and from the Department of Health and Social Security. This became formalised into the Bristish Standard "Method for declaring parameters for ultrasonic diagnostic equipment using test objects" as BS5724 : Section 3.26 : 1990.
The system is designed to allow for various levels of equipment monitoring from routine daily checks by sonographers through to complete performance profiling and a set of 3 test objects are used singly or in combination to achieve these different tasks. |
